As one of the most popular style Chinese martial arts amoung Chniese young generation, Chang Quan or called long-style boxing, is relatively new Chineese Kung fu style. Chang Quan, one of the boxing styles in Chinese Wushu, is characterized by long and fully-extended movements of the hands and legs. It is one of the compulsory events in international Wushu competition.


Long-style boxing or Chang Quan is the style of Chinese boxing developed after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It has developed standardized hand forms, hand techniques, stances, footwork, leg techniques, balance and jumping movements, on the basis of the rules for body movements. The different routines of Chang Quan, include: scurrying, leaping, jumping, dodging, rising, falling, turning and bending.


Chang Quan is complicated in composition. Its movements are executed within a wide range, requiring tremendous physical exertion and quick speed. Regularly practicing Chang Quan helps to improve the functions of the central nervous system, the cardiovascular system and the respiratory system.

Basic Routines of Long Style Boxing


First part:

3. Flash Palm with Forward Toe Step
4. Thrust Fist with Left Bow Step
5. Punch with Heel Kick
6. Thrust Fist with Right Bow Step
7. Press Palm with Stamp and Punch Fist with Bow Step
8. Push Palm with Raised Knee
9. Giant Leap Forward
10. Push Palm with Bow Step and Hook Hand
11. Front Slap Kick
12. Elbow Forward with Bow Step


Second Part:

13. Swing up Fist with Bow Step
14. Upper Block and Fist Chop with Horse-Riding step
15. Thread Palm with Raised Knee
16. Thread Palm with Crouch Step
17. Jumping Front Kick with Forward Step
18. Palm Chop with Bow Step
19. Flash Palm with Crouch Step and Hooked Hand
20. Palm Slap with Crouch Step and Arm Swing
21. Punch Fist with Seated Step

 

Third Part:

22. Sweep Side Punch with Bow Step
23. Backward Leg Sweep with Hands on Ground
24. Hammer Strike with Feet Together and Stamp
25. Front Kick with Forward Step
26. Swing Palms with Cross Stepv
